Guzaarish Movie: Scream & Out
Guzaarish is out and although the film has not met expectations, Sanjay Leela Bhansali can take solace in the fact that Guzaarish can not be ignored.
The film depicts the life of a paraplegic who feels the need to end his life after many years of being confined to a wheelchair. Her decision causes chaos and the debate in local society, especially since it was once a famous magician with innate enthusiasm for life. Either you loved or hated him; Guzaarish is one of those movies. And, of course, amid the many writers who BollySpice home, three of us feel the need to show our views to the film. While we all stand as fans SLB, all could not fail to note the issues, problems and reasons for liking and disliking Guzaarish.
Although the stars one of my favorite actors of all time and although he had a very inspiring interview with Hrithik Roshan, I have to admit I have not seen Guzaarish and not think too much. For me, the story of Ethan and how his life has been one of magic, dancing and so much life to one of being confined to a wheelchair would have been too, but I have seen. However, when I heard the story is going to court to demand the right to terminate your life I know that this is a film that could not handle. I do not understand why the director had to consider that a step too far. The story would have been sufficient if only the story of Ethan and his struggles and how you survived with smiles and acceptance. But to go and want to die, not to cancel anything that is represented by the attitude of Ethan and Zindagi Radio. Also, what was the point that I would never be granted, euthanasia is illegal in India. Another point is what kind of message does it send to everyone in the same situation as Ethan. I applaud the passion of Hrithik for this role and for his outstanding performance I wish I could see it. For me, the movie would have been all and more if it had focused more on Ethan's life before and after his triumph over what happened, his attitude and his love. That was the story he should have said as a whole instead of going for extra shock value of such a controversial issue. This is a film that he wanted to see. - Stacey Yount
It's interesting how two people can watch the same movie and get away completely with opposing views. My mother was feeling a renewed appreciation for life, while I went out trying to understand exactly what Sanjay Leela Bhansali was trying to say. Is it that people in wheelchairs are the oppressed? Or that a man is required fourteen years to realize that he has had enough and needs to end it? My main problem with film is that I could not for the life of me, I feel the pain that the character of Ethan was going on. As can be seen easily Guzaarish yield more honest Hrithik Roshan, the problem was clearly in the script. The film shows him playing a radio jockey who encouraged people to live and love life. And then you realize, "Oh yeah, I love my life!" It made absolutely zero sense to me. The idea of euthanasia was clearly misunderstood and take a ride on Guzaarish. A sensitive issue needed to handle much more honest and well-known as a filmmaker Bhansali. Such a shame; Guzaarish could have been a film about love, life and hope. - Roshni Mulchandani
While the rest of the world are rejoicing the first glimpse of Guzaarish and fully confident that everything would hope that there is, and much, was upset in the corner for another Bhansali film would be in my face for long time to come! Yes, I can say I'm not a fan of the filmmaker who is considered one of the country's most talented filmmakers. So there was some question about whether the ego-driven director, now more than ever after the disaster that Saawariya necessary to demonstrate their talent, would be able to handle a movie based on the issue of euthanasia? No! Its simply a matter that obviously took to deliver shock value, and possibly gather all the attention he can. This explains one of the poorest scripts in recent times, with characters who showed no emotion truth of the matter at hand. However, at the end of the day that my problem is not with the fact that Bhansali made a mediocre movie less people seem to be blinded by it, but by the fact that he took on board one of the most sensitive in modern society, to feed his ego. In addition it is glam the whole thing so it's another overly done period drama, provided the sets and costumes do not have the slightest shred of reality. So to ask you to Mr. Bhansali, you can make all the movies in the world, but next time just have a heart that is all I ask!
